my neighbor was saying some crazy shit about how he beat up a dog and he really fixed that dog's behavior or something

i still have vivid memories of when i was bitten as a child by a very tiny yappy ass dog and i had to go through the whole fucking rabies bullshit

You can use pain to train, there are just typically better ways. Shock collars do exactly this. Positive reinforcement is the best way but sometimes a shock collar is necessary for immediate intervention.

The truth is that hurting for training should never be a primary means.
