Interesting, this view is basically the reversal of the nazi leadership being responsible for everything, and everyone else was "just following orders" and thereby innocent. I guess he wants to absolve himself of responsibility ahead of time for when it's his turn.

I'm pretty sure that at the trials "just following orders" did not work as an argument. When receving an order for participating in genocidal action, you have to not follow that order.
