Aspects of capitalism: private businesses, private homeownership, private agriculture, classism, investments into foreign countries, foreign investment into said country, etc

As long as you're not a tankie or authoritarian I don't really have a problem with many of the particulars. Just know lots of MLs are tankies.

i know where tankie comes from, but its just used to further divide the left tbh.

the difference between the "good" MLs and the "bad" ones is completely unclear. sometimes people say "tankie" to just mean "leftist"

private businesses, private homeownership, private agriculture, classism, investments into foreign countries, foreign investment into said country,

investing in other countries is not necessarily capitalism, and while transitioning away from it you are bound to still have private property for a while. demsocs especially, no?

communism -ie a propertyless, classless society- has never been achieved.

No it's not, Tankies are very clearly defined to be "Authoritarians"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tankie

Tankie is a pejorative label generally applied to authoritarian communists, especially those who support or defend acts of repression by such regimes, their allies, or deny the occurrence of the events thereof. More specifically, the term has been applied to those who express support for one-party Marxist–Leninist socialist republics, whether contemporary or historical.

And it's demonstrated by

Perpetuating Russian talking points like Ukraines invasion just being a "negotiating tactic" https://lemmy.world/post/27012640 and their open declaration of support for Russia (direct from dessalines) https://lemmy.world/post/27352415 and even defending concentration camps as "concentration camps were just reeducation camps and weren't that bad https://lemmy.world/post/26985447

I've got Tankies supporting Trump because he's doing what they want: https://lemmy.world/post/28033872 and basically stating with Trump it's an ends justify the means kinda thing: https://lemmy.world/post/27950020 censoring comments that just say you shouldn't romanticize Stalin and the USSR: https://lemmy.world/post/27673934

And much much more on !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works

Nah, tankie is pretty synonymous with authoritarian communism, which is no bueno in my book.

Capitalism can not be defeated without exercising some level of authority. It's a class war.

You plan to serve in the new empire's army? Becoming a stormtrooper?

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Do you plan on defeating capitalism by asking nicely?

The revolution won't be polite, civil, or peaceful. Our enemies won't just let us win.

Read more history, watch fewer movies about wizards in space.

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

people willingly serve the empire's army. they commit some pretty bad atrocities. they are doing it today. now.

getting rid of imperialism though? i'm scared shitless of fighting any fight at all, and its probably everyone's last resort.

but sometimes people have no choice and most are taking it out on underserving peers, sadly. it could be directed in a way that helps us move forward as a society.

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

you mean marxist-leninist socialism in general, then? yeah, revolution is authoritarian in itself. we leverage our newfound authority, to overthrow the burgeoise authority. we make mistakes in the way, but it generally works much much better. we aim for power to be distributed gradually as we transition to socialism then further into communism.

"tankie" is usually a scare word. you will rarely find any leftists that agree with things not going well. they certainly make it look like most leftists are evul "authoritarians" though.

i see nothing particularly wrong with ML socialism, and many real actual successful applications in real life. they rivaled and rival the current status quo, and could do more if the capitalist world weren't so hostile to it.

You're apparently fine with non-communist authoritarianism then, given that capitalism requires the authoritarian enclosure of the Earth's common and the forcible restriction of human movement into centrally controlled "nation states".
