The first parts of thrive are a lot of fun and it shows what can very well be an awesome game in the future, but everything after the rise out of water is very bare bones as of right now.

Well yeah they are trying to build what was basically vapourware. Thrive dev timelines are slow as fuck.

Wait, there's a "rise out of water" stage already??

I thought it was all still in the cellular stage, without even having a macroscopic "fish"-like creature yet.

Well there isn't if you exclude all the alpha stuff. But you can start a game with that enabled and test it already.
