For me, my step Mom and I had a bit of friction between us. So I was trying to move out asap. Thankfully (probably thanks to my Dad) she tolerated me long enough for me to finish my 2 year college degree and find a job (about 3-6 months).

As soon as I got my first paycheck I immediately went to work on finding an apartment. If your paycheck isn't enough to pay rent or if you just want a friend to hangout with, I recommend considering a roommate. They can help pay the rent and can share chores and things. And you can do fun stuff together too like play games or whatever. Granted there's always the risk of finding a bad roommate too... If you can, I suggest sticking to friends and family only.

I also recommend a marker fridge magnet spinner for a chore wheel. And then write the chores on the wheel. I try to spin and do 1 chore a day. And get my roommate to do the same. Maybe get a marker whiteboard magnet too for use as a "todo" list.

Everything else has already been mentioned by other comments. Just remember to take things one thing at a time and one day at a time.
