Isn't "ass violin" much more common in German as a general insult?
I can't remember anybody talking about an "ass trumpet", as funny as it sounds.

ah true, violin is prolly more widely used in high german colloqueal speak, although in rural east germany we do say Arschtrompete from time to time. Thanks for correcting me though!
