What is this community? (startrek.website)

I read the about. I still have no idea what this community is for. But it's popping up in my feed a lot so figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

We used to post on the chapotraphouse subreddit on reddit-logo but they banned the subreddit after we posted too many John Brown posts, so we started hexbear about 3 years ago. They banned it the same day they banned The_Donald. Probably didn't want to appear biased. We're a left unity group, which means we try to be welcoming to a lot of different types of socialists and communists and avoid infighting. We also have a lot of trans and gay users and accordingly are very pro trans rights.

Something commonly left out is that the donald sub was already inactive at this point, its users already fled to some other shithole in anticipation of being ban. The chapo sub was definitely explicitly targeted for being leftist.

It was the ultimate both-sides. I didn't even realize there was a chapo sub until I learned of it's closure. Def missed out.
