I think what's worse about it is the labeling scenes that are clearly SA and supposed to make you scared or feel uncomfortable - "gooner" or "fanservice". I know, I know, half of these people call it fanservice for views, as it causes engagement, indignant nerds (like me) to get mad that it is not fan service; but it is genuinely disturbing that an abduction and attemptedremoved, and a attempted gang assault are deemed "fan service". It's clear the author is saying something about both 1) puberty in general and in Japan more specifically 2) the evil bad guys are japanese salarymen aliens, slumlords, and imperialist globalists.
The UFO scene is obviously gooner shit, so that undermines a lot of the messaging you attribute to it. I hate when people look at eroticized SV and then say "idk man, if you think this is supposed to be horny, that's a you problem." Like, what am I supposed to do to show you that this is not what a tasteful or utilitarian depiction of SV looks like?
Yes, it unequivocally and beyond any doubt is "fan service," of a disgusting and anti-social kind. The other scene they show with her isn't a tenth as much so, though it still needs to be considered in the context of them having previously done the thing so many anime do where the first episode is ludicrously exploitative.
Are you the Goblin Slayer fan who denies that show being exploitative too? I can't remember their username.
Compara pero no ofendas. Hell no, I watched the show and I was grossed out and unimpressed.
Well, I hope you'll forgive me for the comparison. There was some user who was saying almost exactly the same thing about that show and refused to recognize how various elements (the camera angles, the nudity, the posing, how some things were animated) made it exploitative gooner shit in the same way that Dandadan's UFO scene is, the Dandadan doesn't go quite as far (but also it's done to a minor, so it isn't really any better).
In the interest of diplomacy, I'll mention that outside of the gooner shit, Dandadan is a thousand times better than the pogromist edgelordism of Goblin Slayer, so it actually does have good qualities as well as bad ones.
