I have always found following peertube channels from mastodon to be a rough and cumbersome experience, especially since the mastodon clients do not display videos, they need an external browser.

I found that Newpipe can show peertube videos and supports channel membership, with optional notification for new publications. It also shows likes and comments. A very smooth experience.

I guess my initial problem would be solved with peertube redirect, allowing me to open peertube videos from mastodon in Newpipe, but for now I don't feel I need this further step

Newpipe is great. You can even export your subscriptions from google and import..No ads, automatic sponsor segment skipping, background play with locked phone, mini player like pip..The downside is that google is actively changing things to break things, so we have to update the app every so often. Simply go to newpipe to dl apk.

It hasn't broken for me in a hot minute, its been nice. Last time was when the age verification stuff started rolling out I think.

I love Newpipe.

I don't think the regular NewPipe has SponsorBlock. They don't want to include it. NewPipe forks like Tubular and PipePipe have it though.
