Should PeerTube potentially have a dedicated “Kids” app? (lemmy.world)

For YouTube, there’s a separate (super terrible, barely functioning) YouTube Kids app that filters out non-kid-friendly content and only shows videos suitable for children.

Do you think PeerTube should have something similar — either officially made by Framasoft, or created by a third-party — that’s PURELY for kids’ content?

It could help parents and educators safely guide kids toward age-appropriate videos, while still being part of the Fediverse.

But it might also fragment the user base or require a lot of moderation work.

What do you think — would this be a good, or bad, idea for PeerTube?

Yes! I've started a Peertube Index, ptindex.btfree.org, and was planning to eventually do the same for kids. However, I don't know of any children specific instances atm to even begin one. I've thought of starting a children's instance but there's barely any request for regular Peertube atm. Also on my very long todo list is a Sepiasearch that's moderated and eventually a child friendly one.
