Why was the rollout of GPT-5 such a disaster, anyway?
Basically no clear difference from GPT4 after Altman convinced a bunch of techbros that he'd be rolling out AGI.
Ai hype nerds sweating and trying desperately to articulate the difference between a "functional" and non functional version without making the one they believe in sound equally bad
All of it made even more difficult because they're stuck using the damn new version that totally doesn't work the same at all and is definitely worse
In my experience it seems to make way more mistakes than GPT-4 for some reason
Apparently all it did was that it removed user choice for what model to use and had a separate static prompt to determine what model worked best based on every prompt causing the model to just abruptly change mid-“conversation”.
At least that’s what I heard, I stay as far away from the gippity as I possibly can
Overreaction to the “AI psychosis” headlines which dulled the model significantly, and GPT-5 appears to be a cost-cutting exercise on the whole.
