Hey guys! I'm not a regular on Lemmy, in fact this is my first post. But i wanted to share that I made a Reptile/Bug/Amphibian Discord server, for people like us who are absolute nerds about them. This may sound bad but, why not bring people over from discord to here? All that is discussed in discord gets trapped forever in a walled garden, and older discussions tend to be buried forever. An open forum like Lemmy seems to me the ideal medium for the kinds of discussions you seek. What does a closed chatroom offer that fits your needs better?

Real time conversation, and voice, as well as customization. Like: Emojis, Roles, Channels/Categorys. HOWEVER... I do agree and see your opinion/POV, I just like Discord, for the reasons I already listed.
