My street is a heavily trafficked one. There's always can-collecters -some leave the bins a mess while others are very neat. Occasionally we have someone out of their mind, going through everything, creating an absolute mess for the trash fairies. The trash fairies typically just clean it up best they can like a miracle worker. I've had random people dump things on the sidewalks of my block. Or use my bins. Too many variables to enforce on my block.
Viewing a picture of a bin doesn't always provide context or a clear idea of what's going on. It really should be up to the discretion of the trash fairies collecting the trash. Even if recology trained them to be more strict about their enforcement, it would make more sense than the stupid cameras.
My trash fairies arrive around 5am-6am in the morning, but it can vary. everyone puts bins out the night before. We can't be responsible for monitoring our bins overnight.
Good point that cameras on the garbage trucks can only capture a certain point in time.
I hope Recology and/or the city government take that into account.
