Because it benefits the wealthy few. Statistically you probably don't even know that you are a fucking herbivore because meat is how you sell more plants than every human on earth can possibly eat; you refine them through animals, and sell it to benighted herbivores who then die fat, diseased, and young. Your ignorance is serving others and it's not an accident.
