their publicly stated plan is to slowly integrate taiwan similar to what they did to hong kong unless something (ie. the US) forces their hand.
there's nothing for them to gain from needless war with taiwan.
They plan to invade if peaceful unification is impossible, and peaceful unification is impossible.
it's not. bold claim though.
