I've started to see what looks like an european version of the F150 called ford ranger in here in Italy. In fucking Florence of all places!

i mean, have you ever played Assassin's creed 2? THAT Florence, because the old part of the town is virtually identical. And you bring such a beast here? Mate, there are streets here that are too narrow for a bloody Smart! And you pretend to drive that here? You are just that dumb, right? How small and insecure must make your tiny dick feel to buy a fucking american truck to drive in a town like this?!

[–] LadyMeow@lemmy.blahaj.zone 20 points 1 day ago (3 children)

The ranger is just another truck made by ford, not really a European specific thing. We see them here in the US. It’s smaller than the F150.

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 17 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Though the current Ranger is pretty close to the size of an F-150 from the 90s. Rangers used to be small like the S10 Chevy or Mazda B2200.

[–] THE_GR8_MIKE@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Pretty close, but in the modern day it's over a meter longer and like a foot wider. It's noticeably bigger.

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago

I saw them side by side at Costco. The difference is negligible.

[–] LadyMeow@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 day ago

That’s true! It’s insane how big American cars are and how they just get bigger.

[–] AbsolutelyNotAVelociraptor@piefed.social 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The F150 is BIGGER?! And here I was thinking you must be a special kind of idiot to buy that kind of truck... turns out there's an even specialer kind of idiot who buys an even bigger one...

Not saying it isn't an interesting visual representation but Jesus fucking Christ some consistency in the children height/distance would make for way better comparison.

[–] cojo5@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

each child is the same height in each picture. the diagram shows how far they can be while still being invisible to the driver.

[–] MrScruff@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Well that makes more sense. Turns out I'm a big dumdum.

Thanks!

You can definitely tell I didn't even try to parse the numbers. Since it clearly states the 3yo child in my eyes would have been a 3m tall monster lol

[–] cojo5@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

haha i had to look so it twice. it doesn’t help that the distance to the vehicle is above their heads, which is exactly where i’d put a height

[–] Commander_Keen@reddthat.com 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

Don’t look up the f-450 - f-650 line. 👀

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Why does that look so much like AI?

[–] petrol_sniff_king@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Because it is~

Look at the mangled weirdo on the left side. Is that supposed to be another truck?

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago
[–] marcos@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

The lighting is weird, and the car is twice as weird.

I think AI wouldn't make an image like that even if you explicitly asked for it.

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Good lord. At what point do we require a CDL to drive these things?

[–] Commander_Keen@reddthat.com 2 points 1 day ago

They should be required for anything above a f250 imho. But TIL that a CDL wasn’t even a thing until 1992 👀.

[–] Unstoppable_Flop@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

Right after we make cybertrucks safe

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

When you jump from the F450 to the F550 I think…

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 2 points 1 day ago

It competes with the Toyota Tacoma. Fairly reasonable trucks. Pretty much always for work

[–] Cheesus@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

They aren't uncommon across the Alps here in France. I would hate to have to park one literally anywhere here.

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think I saw some dipshit with one there last year. I just figured it was the kid of the owner is the local Ford dealership. Surely no one else would spend money on one and drive it into city center, other than for the spectacle alone... right? Surely this just one guy, right?

What's funny is how relatively rare the VW Amarok is in Europe. Buy local for your shitkicker pickup truck!

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The only Amaroks I've ever seen here in the Netherlands were military camo green.

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

I think I see them moatly witg landscapers and garden maintenance companies.
But they could be other models.

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago

The most I've seen in one place was South Africa. But only ever seen white, black, or dark blue.

[–] heartSagan5@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

Yeah, there was a Ford Ranger plant here in Minnesota. We couldn’t get someone to turn it back into a factory. Now, it’s turned into condos. And it seems like Boomers are the biggest buyers who are little bitches when we want a taproom for some reason.
