Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

400k over 12 years. 33k a year.

Yeah seems huge to most low income families.

But 2 people earning about 150k each a year.

10+% extra annual income. Is less noticeable. I can see why the police did not laugh. Just investigate and Look for evidence she was directly informed.

I mean honestly as a left of centre voter. I'd be a bit hypocritical. Not to acknowledge.

A family on 300k a year will be way less likely to notice an extra 30k.

Then a family on 30k a year will 3k.

We on the left make this claim all the time on progressive taxation etc. it applies to this as well.

For now I'll ignore. How much of a bigger arsehole he is. Then the low income family stealing 3k to feed children. I'm only pointing out the busy wife is not as obviously expected to notice. As one who wonders where the extra baby milk came from.

Fair, but that's assuming he took it in even amounts, which some of the purchases suggests he didn't.

And even with that amount of income, I've seen her statement where she says it was all his own money, but frankly I don't believe her.

If you're married, you will always have a rough idea about how much money you have in shared and individual accounts, and the idea that one of you can go out and spend £60k+ on a motorhome and another £80k+ on cars without having to discuss the purchase beforehand with your spouse isn't a reality I'm familiar with.

The other stuff? Sure. But rocking up in a brand new electric car just seems a bit much to me. If my wife turned up with a new motorhome my first question would be "where did you get the money from".
