there's relics that benefit single-element or multi-element builds, but there's no innate benefit to matching elements. if your relics don't care then you're free to use whatever
imo the toughest part of the game is breaking the habit of trying to dash through attacks, not having i-frames on the dash is so unusual for the genre and still fucks me up sometimes
