I'm sorry, but I think a lot of people think that just because you're in BC or even Canada, you're somehow automatically paired up with a family doctor. This is not true.
The government has only so many people to pair people up with a family doctor. These people are not health professionals so sometimes they may not fully understand a patient's need and if the family doctor is even able to provide care for their needs. Take into consideration say...it takes 10-15 minutes to make a call and organize just 1 person to be paired with 1 doctor. That's 4-5 people per hour. In a working day that's 40 people to be optimistic. The time to pair 1.3 million people will simply be absurd.
I strongly advise people who are looking for family doctors to self-advocate and call medical clinics asking if they are accepting new patients. Clinics that are looking for new patients often do not show up on government websites (you can start looking here though).
I was signed up for that doctor match thing for like 3 years before I gave up and started searching for clinics accepting patients. Luckily I finally got one that way.
