This is basically just another day in Rome. The pretty much just covered things up and built on top of it. If you see the Forum, it sits a good 25-40 feet below where the city is now. I went to church that was built in the 17th century that you could tour below it where it was sitting on a 12th century monastery on top on a 2nd century apartment.
You literally couldn’t drill down anywhere in that city without hitting something from the past two thousand years.
