On the plus side it can't have been anyone from Hexbear because I don't think anyone here is stupid enough to talk about their plans for doing something like this over Discord.

This place had a discord community/lifeboat before the website came up and as I understand it's still around to say nothing of various other ones. It's largely an age thing, younger people have this incredible addiction to that platform like boomers with Facebook, they just can't avoid using it and end up using it for all kinds of things they really shouldn't.

I don't think it's platform addiction. It's primarily about convenience. The people are already there therefore they use it.

The general point i'm making though is that our circles, even those of us using Discord, know not to use it for discussing illegal shit.
