The Seattle Times reported five separate data centers that were planned within the Seattle metro, adding up to something like half the total power we consume in the city currently. The prevalence of cheap hydro power in the pnw has made it a desirable destination for data centers.

Oh interesting, thanks. I live here and can’t imagine the space for a data center within the Seattle metro!

Iirc there's a couple on 6th between Lenora and Olive. We've had enough tech companies here long enough there are a few older ones around the city, which are much smaller than these new ones for LLMs.
