the book 'short history of USSR' is available easily in our bookshelves and it might help with dispelling narratives especially to people near me who aren't quite convinced

I really liked her work in "The Russian Revolution", thought it was a well-sourced history of the situation going into the October Revolution and the decade or so thereafter. Haven't read anything else from her.
