No, it's Nicolas Cage

Yes, apparently there’s a new cosmetic surgery technique called deep lift. And this is the result.

Is the excess skin tied in a bow under the hat?

Listen this kind of disrespectful comment is not ok. It made me snort coffee out of my nose.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Looking at before and after images of this procedure and it looks pretty freaking incredible to be honest with you. Expensive af though.

[–] dingus@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

It's really hard to parse these sorts of things. All of these before and after shots for any of these procedures are done by the people advertising them to you. Of course they are going to pick and choose things that work out well. Would be nice if there was a less biased way to research these sorts of things tbh. Interesting technique, though.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

Yeah, I had the same conclusion. Images will undoubtedly be promotional for these things. Very biased. But for successful surgeries, very nice results. Some patients seemingly age backwards 20 years. Insane.

It looks less fake than other facial surgeries I've seen, but there is still an amuse bouche of uncanniness to it. And with the uncanny valley, less is literally more. Ymmv

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm guessing before and after images will usually show success stories only, eh. Because those looked great. Would like to see a relatively botched example.

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm not going to try and see botched facial surgery photos until after I've had tomorrow's coffee.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

lol, I get that people can be squeamish 😆 Don't worry, I've searched the internet before 😊🤟

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm not that squeamish, I've seen the Substance for example. We probably grew up on the same internet. It's just a headspace thing right now, I need to keep it cute today.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The Substance wasn't exactly bad in that regard. Yeah we probably did. 😅 Lots of gore videos in the early internet. But I respect your headspace.

I'm fine with gore, e.g., but I still really dislike needles. 😆

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The Substance wasn't bad! We're talking about the same movie right? What counts as bad to you?

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No no, I don't mean bad as in a bad movie, I just meant it wasn't very gory to me. 😁 It was almost a comedy with it's effects, IMO.

I thought it was a great movie, both me and the wife.

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's really interesting. To me it's peak body horror, on par with admitting I've seen from Clive Barker. I can't help wondering what you're comparing it to, to say it's not very gory?

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

wondering what you're comparing it to

The early days of the internet? 😅

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Some rough stuff back then, but these days we just watch actual wars up close. Russian dudes getting turned into Gwar-type slapstick deaths, wild stuff.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

Yeah it's a proper hit of nostalgia, almost 🫣

[–] FUCKING_CUNO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It is. He's doing a beret thing now

[–] OrteilGenou@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago

His new movie is called "Mimes Are Too Cool! MOM!!"

I thought it was James Franco until you said that.
