To any outside observer it looks like Iran has won this war, complete with reparations from the US.

I’m sure Israel will blow this deal up though.

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 hours ago

Bibi is already pummeling Beirut

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 9 points 21 hours ago

israel/trump/benjamin has a vested interest in keeping it going. it keeps netanyahu out of jail, and trump out of the epstein files in the news.

[–] justOnePersistentKbinPlease@fedia.io 46 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They already bombed Lebanon today, likely to try and derail it again.

[–] ButtermilkBiscuit@feddit.nl 20 points 1 day ago

Yup, was just going to comment this. Bombs right on time to try and kill any ongoing negotiations. Israel is not a friend to the US, and trump clearly has no control over the situation. Shit, trump going into this nightmare at netanyahoo's request is so on brand for the moron magats and trump.

The US simply has to restrict weapons and money to Israel. Bush senior did it and froze a 10 billions loan

Iran won the war when they dint bend like venezuela did in the first hours of this nonsensical operation. There is nothing the USA can win out of this confict, they are just losing power everywhere..

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 6 points 21 hours ago

they underestimated that iran can FIGHT BACK, and they stockpiled tons of missiles, venezuela was practically defenseless.

[–] Darleys_Brew@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Yeah, does anyone think Iran will stop suffering?

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

who started and is continue this conflict: USA and israel, just to keep epstein out of the news. iran is no saint, but they arnt the aggressors in this conflict.

[–] Darleys_Brew@lemmy.ml 1 points 19 hours ago

Agreed. And innocent Iranians will continue to suffer.

[–] Eldritch@piefed.world 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sadly no. But having just their government to deal with, instead of being squashed starved and slaughtered between the two is a minor improvement.

[–] Darleys_Brew@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I’m not even convinced USA and Israel won’t find a way to make them suffer. Both seem to love genocide.

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 day ago

Sorry, is there something wrong with genocide? Fucking antisemites everywhere these days.

[–] Eldritch@piefed.world 3 points 1 day ago

All states do ultimately. Unfortunately too many states have far too many cheerleaders.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago

No, the people of Iran are between a rock and a hard place.

But I think people can maintain a cause in defence of themselves longer than the US can maintain their offensive.

The US just hit critically low oil levels where it’s impossible to continue depleting them. They’ve reached low enough levels using pipelines are threatened by being able to maintain pressure.

The US now has to decide if they want to lose internal oil transport and shut down infrastructure. All right before midterms.

To any outside observer it looks like Iran has won this war

The war is won by either side only when Iran inflicts a permanent defeat on its enemies, or it ceases to be a functional state. Any deal in between, if it even goes through, will only postpone the resumption of the war, as it has been for what, about the last 45 years.

[–] ironycanal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

I would guess Iran is holding out to cripple the Israelis. The fact the Zios aren't just taking what they've won and going home until next time is evidence they're jot just evil, they're all fucking insane. Letting this go on once the conquest of Lebanon slows down is so fucking stupid.
