That it's a statistical tie is fucking insane and tells you just how much propaganda these people consume.
I know because I live in rural America. These people are my neighbors and coworkers. Most of them are good people who are just lied to by every single authority figure and institution in their lives. The rest are exactly as Mrs Clinton described them. Hard to know which is which until it's too late, sadly.
These people are legit propagandized and lied to by everyone in their life. The local news, the national news, their preachers, their elected officials (it's a 1-party state where they live,) their friends, their families, their coworkers, their bosses, their whoever.
It does not excuse the racism and lord help me i do not know how i possess the will NOT to hit them sometimes when they go on anti-trans rants, because these people could absolutely lynch someone and not feel bad about it. They start getting agitated about "boys" playing girls sports and I pray for the earth to swallow these idiots up.
But anyway, maybe it does explain why it's hard to get through to them even when reality is dick-slapping them square in the jaw over and over and over. They don't really have a chance to know any better.
So...down to 50% approval? If that holds, Democrats will win a couple senate seats in red states and the house margins might be big enough to actually fucking DO something with a majority.
Maybe they were good people at some point, but not anymore. By definition.
Good of you to judge people you don't know, based on some irrelevant criteria, while ignoring any evidence to the contrary.
Same goddamn thing the Republicans do, so great job there. Good behavior to emulate.
"“Now, the Freedom of Choice Act is not my highest legislative priority,” Obama said. “I believe that women should have the right to choose, but I think that the most important thing we can do to tamp down some of the anger surrounding this issue is to focus on those areas that we can agree on. And that’s where I’m going to focus.”
President Change We Can Believe In, with a majority, folks.
