To.be fair, this was before we got the America 250 spectacular last night. Now surely those idiots have forgotten all about Iran and inflation and they are back on the Trump train because they have the memory of a goldfish.

Amerikans wont do shit about him. They might complain but so what? If all they do is complain like no kings protests did nothing will change. If you dont threaten them they will not do shit thats beneficial to you. A good example would be to look at 2 year long non stop peaceful protests in Georgia, the government hasnt done anything toward satisfying the protestors, police still beat up and imprison protestors just protesting on the sidewalks and the protest movement has basically given up. Dont rural amerikans have like 12730 guns in their basement? Just collecting dust and fantasizing about killing trans people, thats what they do. I fucking hate amerika.

That it's a statistical tie is fucking insane and tells you just how much propaganda these people consume.

I know because I live in rural America. These people are my neighbors and coworkers. Most of them are good people who are just lied to by every single authority figure and institution in their lives. The rest are exactly as Mrs Clinton described them. Hard to know which is which until it's too late, sadly.

These people are legit propagandized and lied to by everyone in their life. The local news, the national news, their preachers, their elected officials (it's a 1-party state where they live,) their friends, their families, their coworkers, their bosses, their whoever.

It does not excuse the racism and lord help me i do not know how i possess the will NOT to hit them sometimes when they go on anti-trans rants, because these people could absolutely lynch someone and not feel bad about it. They start getting agitated about "boys" playing girls sports and I pray for the earth to swallow these idiots up.

But anyway, maybe it does explain why it's hard to get through to them even when reality is dick-slapping them square in the jaw over and over and over. They don't really have a chance to know any better.

So...down to 50% approval? If that holds, Democrats will win a couple senate seats in red states and the house margins might be big enough to actually fucking DO something with a majority.

Maybe they were good people at some point, but not anymore. By definition.

[–] BillCheddar@lemmy.world 0 points 4 hours ago

Good of you to judge people you don't know, based on some irrelevant criteria, while ignoring any evidence to the contrary.

Same goddamn thing the Republicans do, so great job there. Good behavior to emulate.

the house margins might be big enough to actually fucking DO something with a majority.

"“Now, the Freedom of Choice Act is not my highest legislative priority,” Obama said. “I believe that women should have the right to choose, but I think that the most important thing we can do to tamp down some of the anger surrounding this issue is to focus on those areas that we can agree on. And that’s where I’m going to focus.”

President Change We Can Believe In, with a majority, folks.

Trump's approval rating among rural Americans dropped in June to a new low of 50%

Still too high.

"My day to day is negatively impacted and I haven’t seen these other benefits."

LAMF, they're not hurting the right people, etc. I'm just so tired of these people ...

[–] BigMacHole@thelemmy.club 30 points 1 day ago (2 children)

HOW can they DISAPPROVE? He's doing EXACTLY what he Promised them he WOULD!

[–] Trioxin@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 12 hours ago

I'm pretty sure he promised he'd start no new wars and that he'd bring prices down...

[–] arctanthrope@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago

they didn't realize that politics happens to actual people, much less that they could be those people. it's just on the TV like football, and they wanted to see their team win

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 12 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

They'll still vote for whoever has an R after their name...

[–] moncharleskey@lemmy.zip 3 points 19 hours ago

Nah, voter apathy is a thing. I had one guy tell me he wasn't going to voter anymore so he wouldn't be responsible for whatever happens. This came from someone that was wearing amaga hats and had signs all in his yard. All gone now. Obviousky there are die hards, but some people are cracking and I welcome it enthusiasticly.

[–] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 9 points 22 hours ago

If this, and all the other stats coming out of the USA, doesn't explain to you how deeply indoctrinated and mentally ill conservatives are, nothing will.

Rural Americans keeping the curve nice and flat

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 5 points 22 hours ago

20% of them switched to not approving. That’s 1/5.

But iPod charts are fucking trash. You can’t include confidence intervals on interpolation splines like that. Those don’t look like restricted cubic splines or b splines, and that chart is not a dense lowess chart.

They strangle the fuck out of that data to hide that they have like 8 data points.

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Am I the only one finding the credibility of these polls to be suspect?

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 5 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (1 children)

How are they getting polling data from people like me? I don't answer the phone for unknown numbers. Texts from uknown numbers get blocked. Unsolicited mail goes straight into the trash, unopened. Email from senders I haven't whitelisted automatically goes to spam. I don't answer the door if I don't know who's knocking. All my browsers are adblocked to hell and back.

For me and people like me, there's absolutely no way to get polling data about us.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 19 hours ago

probably targeting select conservative areas

My brother is a rural redneck with rural redneck friends in the south. Even he has mentioned that the people he knows are saying things like "maybe he is acting too selfishly". A lot of rural people are borderline anarchist when it comes to government. They liked Trump because he would "drain the swamp" and get rid of the "elites" (and also many of them liked the racism). When just openly started enriching himself and not giving a shit about gas prices, they started to feel differently.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 3 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

The greatest lie Trump ever got people to believe is that a billionaire from New York isn't an 'elite'.

[–] JillyB@beehaw.org 5 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

To a lot of rural people, I don't fully blame them. Rural areas have been gutted over the decades and left the people there feeling politically used and abandoned. Trump was something different. Hilary, Biden, or Harris would have represented more of the same decay and they knew that and were willing to take a chance. People paying more attention knew trump wasn't going to do anything for anybody but himself but most voters don't look into things that deep.

[–] Hinterwalder@feddit.org 1 points 11 hours ago

This is exactly what it is for so many. Some take it further: you made us hurt, now it’s your turn to hurt. These ones know Trump is a conman but they want everyone who moved to a suburb somewhere to pay for what’s happened to rural areas.

[–] KulunkelBoom@lemmus.org 2 points 21 hours ago

Face it... they're this fucking slow. A couple more decades and they can be overheard saying "I think that trump fella ISN'T the greatest president of all time."

[–] stretch2m@infosec.pub 1 points 1 day ago

It always depresses me that his approval rate isn't zero.
