I think you may be ribbing but if you're not, do a bit of reading and you will find that clan or tribal groups had different protocols for acknowledging visitors to the country over which they were custodians depending on their local traditions. It was a way for both visitors to identify themselves and for the custodians of that part of the country to welcome them and express their culture. At the time of European settlement there were about 250 indigenous languages with about 500 dialects, so, language being part of culture already tells you that there was a lot of diversity and not a sort of monoculture.
