Hey, boss, I realize 90% of our unit prices are already pure profit, but I reckon we can get that to 95% by blaming an increase in chip prices. Actually, you know what, our users are already locked in an fucked if they don't buy our shit, so let's go for it.

Is Apple's profit margins on hardware 90%? I thought it was still high but around 40%.

They're not 90%, yet... But just raise the prices and pass the blame has been in fashion pretty hard for the last 6 years.
