Yeah, that's not how physics works. Things can't stop instantly.
Fun fact: people still can’t teleport and you should be aware of where they are when you’re driving near them.
If you are blind to the world with your nose stuck in a phone, and unexpectedly wonder off the sidewalk into the path of a bus, you die and it's 100% your own fault.
What makes you think it was the pedestrians on their phones?
If you’re driving too fast to stop for an unexpected hazard you’re driving dangerously.
