Yay a wholesome meme! Too many “wife bad marriage annoying” memes so this one is a breath of fresh air.

Edit: lot of salty dudes in the comments

If wife isn’t good then wife shouldn’t have been wife in the first place.

My wife’s dope.

[-] VanillaGorilla@kbin.social 61 points 10 months ago

Eh, life can change wife, life can change husband. Sometimes it's great for a couple years, then not. Doesn't mean wife not good. Just not the best fit anymore.

Why use many word, when few word do trick.

[-] Hadriscus@lemm.ee 3 points 10 months ago

Trick is what whore do for money

And you should change if you wanna keep your marriage alive. I always wonder why society considers change to be something bad.

[-] VanillaGorilla@kbin.social 7 points 10 months ago

It's dead, Jim.

We diverged in different directions and split up in friendship. There's no shame in ending something before both hate eachother.

[-] Anamana@feddit.de 3 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Nono sure. I wasn't referring to a specific example. I just see relationship as sth that needs growth and change and not as a never-changing system that has to be kept the same at all costs.

And yeah change can also lead to speration, which also doesn't have to be bad. Like in your example.

[-] VanillaGorilla@kbin.social 3 points 10 months ago

I mean don't get me wrong, I'm still suffering. But it was the best decision given the situation.

All relationships require work to keep alive, whether it be romantic, platonic, or familial.

[-] Lt_Worf@lemmy.ca 21 points 10 months ago

You are wise for a perogi.

[-] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 10 months ago

i like the saying that your partner should also be your best friend

[-] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 7 points 10 months ago

If ur partner is not your best friend then why are they your partner?

[-] SnipingNinja@slrpnk.net 2 points 10 months ago

But I already have a best friend

[-] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca -1 points 10 months ago

Although I agree in practice, the pedant in me thinks that best is exclusive to a singular entity.

[-] seitanic 1 points 10 months ago

You can like two people just as much, but for different reasons.

[-] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca -1 points 10 months ago

Suit yourself but life’s definitely more fun when you open yourself up to friends

[-] SnipingNinja@slrpnk.net 1 points 10 months ago

I did say I agree in practice

[-] thorbot@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

I'm legitimately surprised to find a comment thread on Lemmy with people in a healthy long term relationship, what a find

[-] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 0 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

It’s because the thread starts out all negative, everyone contributes with their negativity, if you come in and say that your wife’s great and y’all are best friends, everyone jumps down your throat and gets nasty. Who’d sign up for that?

Edit: case in point right here lmao. Sorry y’all have such bad relationships with your wives.

[-] Siegfried@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

This comment is the only negative thing I have seen in the whole thread besides the wierdo right on the bottom

[-] RavenFellBlade@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 months ago

Work! Glory to your houuuuuuse!

[-] cubedsteaks@lemmy.today -1 points 10 months ago

69 upvotes. Nice.

[-] abbotsbury@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

And it's not one of those "wholesome" memes that's just shallow positivity

[-] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca -5 points 10 months ago

Must be miserable being you then!

[-] Hadriscus@lemm.ee 3 points 10 months ago
[-] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

TIL it is shallow positivity to compliment and appreciate your wife. Y’all are fucking miserable. I’d hate to interact with anyone like you in real life.

[-] ledtasso@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I think you misread the comment that you originally replied to. They are saying exactly the opposite of what you are saying here. "It's NOT [...] just shallow positivity"

Still a tad cynical, though, since even the "shallow" wholesome memes still have good intentions most of the time (spreading a tiny bit of positivity is better than spreading negativity) - though I can understand the perspective that if it's too shallow it can rub you the wrong way especially if you're having a bad day ("just cheer up!" etc.)

[-] Hadriscus@lemm.ee 2 points 10 months ago

You're replying to the wrong person

[-] abbotsbury@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

thats not very wholesome 100 of you uwu

[-] BoxOfFeet@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I agree! Before I left reddit, there was this comic that basically spammed the sad comics subreddit before being exiled to its own. It was called "Marriage is Bliss" and I absolutely hate it. It's all about how horrible the wife is and how pathetic the husband is, and how much his life sucks. This strip is sweet, I like it. I can relate to it.
