In my experience with my own surgery and injuries, most of the time the doctors get the dosage of painkillers right for me, but if the initial prescription is not working, I've always had the option to go back to the doctor and ask for a higher dose, or even a different drug.

Of course, make sure you stop taking it as soon as you can to avoid getting addicted, dispose of the remaining pills at your local pharmacy drop box, so nobody else can get them, etc.

Unsupervised self-medication isn't a great idea.

usually we are cutting it for her to take less or less at one time. It is really due to the side effects. Its a question of things like nasea vs pain and yes she gets nausea medication now but its often not enough. For some folks there is not perfect level.
