Hello new Lemmy friends!
Word on the street tells us our community is regularly making it the all page. While this is very cool news to hear, we can see how the sudden emergence of our posts in your feed might feel jarring and probably raises some questions. And also how, without knowing the backstory, our community might appear less than virtuous, so here’s a very brief introduction which hopefully will clear a few things up.
The woman we’re discussing is a body positive influencer and media personality who has gained fame and wealth by lying, manipulating, exploiting her children for content, plagiarizing BIPOC creators and blaming her BIPOC content editor for it (thereby ruining her career), among other things. Her fraudulent behavior is no different (I’d argue worse) from the likes of Jay Shetty (google him if you don’t know who he is or what he did). She’s the latest in a long line of grifting influencers who are abusing their power, taking advantage of their position and exploiting their followers. The difference is that she’s Canadian. Our laws around social media and advertising aren’t as clear (and where they are she’s disobeyed them), add to that, our mainstream media has protected her from those who’ve tried to expose her grift and silenced/intimidated anyone who’s tried to speak out.
Our Reddit sub was taken down due to reports of copyright infringement, which is unfounded and categorically untrue as no one ever tried to steal her work and pass it off as their own. The mods have made an appeal. While at first glance it may seem like we’re just “shitting on her” the sub has been more devoted to investigation and posting proof of her lies than just bitching for the sake of bitching. The reality is that she’s hurt, manipulated and let down a lot of people. She stole intellectual property and employment, caused mental distress and has repeatedly told lies to boost engagement and profit off her audience, so people are understandably upset that their voices are being silenced.
We’re grateful to have been welcomed so kindly by so many of you, and to those sticking around to watch the drama unfold, we’re glad to have you!

Is this her transphobic sister at the queer hockey event? I can't tell!!a
The Birds Papaya, Sarah Nicole Landry's sister Meghann Dykstra (@ourcountryacres on Instagram), reposted and highlighted a social media post that can be seen as transphobic. This repost and highlight were posted on @ourcountryacres' Instagram account around January 30th, 2026.
The post states, "If a trans person goes Missing... do we put their Picture on a carton of Half and half or... 🙄😂"
TheBirdsPapaya's sister, Meghann Dykstra @ourcountryacres, is listed as the parent on a bullying-prevention plan PDF. The school is the Kenilworth Public School, part of the Upper Grand District School Board.
The Upper Grand District School Board and the Kenilworth Public School receive core education funding that comes directly from the provincial government, which is supported by general provincial tax revenues and education property taxes. If you live in Ontario, you pay these taxes.
Meghann Dykstra is listed as the parent on the Safe Schools Committee. She is listed as an Emergency Supply Teacher (OCT-certified) at Kenilworth Public School.
Meghann Dykstra's role on the Safe Schools Committee makes me concerned about students attending this school. Meghann Dykstra willingly shared and highlighted a social media post about missing trans people. The post, to me, appears to mock trans people and dehumanize trans people.
In my opinion, a parent on the Kenilworth Public School Safe Schools Committee who highlights the view point expressed in this exact social media post may not provide due diligence for a trans student who is being bullied or a student who speaks up for trans rights. This is my personal opinion and doesn't reflect this group or Lemmy.ca
In my opinion, the post dehumanizes trans people. Dehumanizing trans people puts their lives at risk.
Meghann saved the post to her "highlights" on Instagram. There were only two posts in her highlights.
Meghann removed the transphobic post when a Redditor posted it two days ago.
This illustrates to me that Meghann sees the transphobic post as top-tier content that deserves to be highlighted. This is my opinion.
From PDF School Bullying Prevention and Equity & Inclusive Goal(s):
Under Canadian law, public engagement and criticism of public institutions, including school boards, trustees, teachers, and school councils/committees, are legally protected and actively encouraged. I have a legal right to expression. Charter Protections: Section 2(b) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees freedom of thought, belief, opinion, and expression. Public Institutions: School boards (including the Upper Grand District School Board) are publicly funded public bodies. Citizens have the right to question, critique, and comment on their policies, staff actions, and safety programs. I have shared opinions, critiques, and statements of fact.
I’m not surprised she’d post this but I’ve definitely accidentally reshared stuff before lol. I check every week or so to delete stuff!
I see she writes exactly like her sister.
She’s on the Safe Schools Committee??! The school/school board is obviously not aware of her posts/reposts on sm! I hope they will take appropriate action to remove this type of person from any committees she might be on.
I agree.
I saw that post and zoomed in on the woman’s shoes. I don’t think it’s the sister’s style. The woman does look a lot like her.
