Objective and factual reporting from the battlefield, parliaments, etc. is encouraged, even if it's about bad news for Ukraine.

Insulting Putin and his cronies (Orban, Trump, Musk,...) is absolutely fine but don't use homophobic or similar language against them. Members of the queer community don't deserve to be compared to that scum. Also: Putin disciminates against gay people. If you do as well, you're part of the problem.

Don't insult or use overly harsh language against other commentators.

Don't submit direct links to Twitter/X and Truth Social posts. You may: Post a screenshot + quote, do a full quote and name the author, direct link to a proxy service like xcancel.com, deep link an image embedded in a tweet because Lemmy will cache a copy.

Don't just complain about paywalls. If you encounter one, be a sport and link to an archived version instead. Use Firefox + uBlock Origin with the annoyances filters enabled and https://filterlists.com/lists/bypass-paywalls-clean-filter to avoid encountering many in the first place.

it’s probably naive to hope putin can be removed without too much collateral damage to the country and people but he does have to go. The shape of Russia post putin appears to be very uncertain…
IDK, my guess is when Putin is finally removed, it will be because there's an overwhelming desire for it from all sides.
If that's the case it could be pretty peaceful just as when Gorbachev was replaced.
But I'm not sure that's preferable for the Russians. But I bet whether peaceful or not it will be great for Ukraine.
For the near future (10 years) Russia is pretty much fucked already.
Anyways, all the people that claim Putin is strong and his positions isn't in danger, are forgetting that Russia has a clear precedence that it is absolutely possible to replace authoritarian leaders in Russia.
