Yesterday I was thinking of the word "reactive" and how it defines the dem mindset. To paraphrase the dictionary - they are acting in response to situations rather than creating or controlling them. The dems are at historic lows in popularity. They've dug themselves into a hole, they have no idea how to get out and they refuse to do anything substantive about it. I've joked about it over-and-over but their main talking points are kitchen table issues and healthcare subsides. Which - even they would have to admit - are not energizing.
In that context - I'm surprised at their attitude towards ICE. Any decent person with even a cursory knowledge of what ICE is up to is disgusted. But most dem pols seem to ignore ICE. I know I'm speaking theoretically and most of them would never do it but being anti-ICE would be an easy way to energize the base and an easy dunk for the dems to at least be strongly anti-ICE on social media. Pritzker is the loudest voice even though I assume he'll be useless because he won't do anything.
I think that vast percentage of dem pols are in a fetal position hoping they can at least win the House in 2026.

Edit
When they do mention ICE - it's bland stuff like this...
Senator Ron Wyden
wow Ron very inspring thanks for defeating fascism you fucking asshole
He could have at least said Trump's federal occupation.
