Plugin has that safety to not put power on the wire if mains is disconnected...
At least, if you dont use cheap unregulated stuff that is.
Edit: hell, it needs main to know the frequency and timings of the ac so it can be in sync
I was assuming this. There’s no way I’d be plugging in something that didn’t sync its sine wave with the rest of my house (and the grid).
I have considered a solar pergola though with inverter to run AC and heat to my workshop/garage. But need to rebuild our deck first and incorporate that in the design. I
