I think Lemmy is very left wing and as such basically everyone is politically right of the average Lemmy user. This may be why you don't find active left wing communities on other sites; from your (or Lemmy's) perspective they aren't left wing. I personally have found orders of magnitudes more leftist discussion and content on sites such as YouTube.
