I don’t live in Maine, so I have no say in that senate election. But I know it must be really hard for left of center Maine voters right now. But what’s even harder to deal with it, was the consistent victim blaming I’ve seen from the left for the last 6 months or so.

If this was 2015-2022. We wouldn’t have tolerated this type of behavior on the left. But I guess that was the “woke” era, and now we have to be just as sociopathic and dirtbag as MAGA. So many left leaning influencers have lost credibility with their attacks on his accusers. Saying that one of them is a Republican, dosent really hurt her argument because Platner dated her KNOWING she was a Republican.

Before these latest developments. I’ve said I’d still vote for Platner despite his scandals. Even the one about black people tipping which pissed me off. We went through an entire MeToo Movement, and preached to believe victims, but here we are. I guess Trump 2.0 really has done damage to social awareness in politics.

TLDR: How did we allow victim blaming like this to happen on the left?

To be fair...the "one of them that is a Republican", isn't just a Republican...she's a Republican activist / influencer. This is not the kind of person anyone should be taking at face value, given the nature of the Republican influencer economy. They are all paid to lie. That's their entire business model. Nothing about it is authentic or genuine.

That being said, this latest accuser isn't any of that. She actually came with real receipts, and doesn't seem to have any obvious financial incentive to lie. It's unfortunate that Planter is who he is, because from a purely policy-based perspective...we do need more like him. It's just really disappointing that he came with all the other, unforgivable baggage.

Not even just a Republican influencer, a Republican influencer who defended Brett Kavanaugh against his own credible rape accusation after the alleged sexual assault. That's enough to make most people very skeptical of her testimony, especially with the zero evidence that she offered. The more recent accuser actually brought receipts and doesn't have a bunch of reasons to assume she's lying.
