United Kingdom
General community for news/discussion in the UK.
Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.
Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Like the word used for mentally disabled people moves to become a slur and we collectively need to find a new word. So will the word for those moving across borders. We need to shift away from the demonisation of migrants and let the integrate into the community without making there class something to be ashamed of.
I have no issue with migrants or even asylum seekers for that matter. My issue is specifically people who try and game the system to immigrate to the UK. I actually think our current legal immigration rules are too strict.
which is why they do it "illegally". It's a little like drugs, making it more illegal wont stop it.
There's a good chance your ancestors came to the UK by boat.
Legally.
I fail to see how that point is relevant. Unless you're one of those people who's whole schtick is "border controls should not exist at all"
Tell that to the monks at Lindisfarne.
