That is not at all true. I've slept in plenty of parking lots. Its the same as it ever was - don't go where you aren't wanted.

Before or after the tiny home van conversion fad? Also what is your population density like. Are you within the first or second ring of a major city in your state?

Are you in the united States or the east coast. Do your parking lots for most shopping malls and outlets have those little blue light cameras on a little trailer? Is there third party security vehicles doing patrols through the parking lots every hour?

Sure you can probably sleep on the side of the road and stuff or off where no one can notice you. But there was a time when Walmart of other stores encourages you to stay over night for your road trips or whatever. Now its something everyone looks out for. If you are on the west coast its common for homeless people to find a beaten up trailer for 500 bucks and park it some where and its a big ordeal to get them out.
