people buy bikes like they buy cars.
and like cars, they buy a new one rather than maintain their current one.

a 2008 bike is like a model T ford at this point.
you should very much get a new bike, and be amazed. 2008 bikes were still mostly using road geometry and road components.
Won't lie that's a far stretch to say that a bike with hydraulic disk front and rear, Marzocchi Bomber DJ 3, and a geometry that most hard tail mtb mimic these days, I find it hard to agree. The only thing that I am missing out on is having access to a 12x1 group set. But an 8x1 is more than enough for the stuff I do.
I mean, you're wrong. But ride what you want man. Nobody is forcing you to buy a new bike, you can keep riding your model T and thinking it's the best thing ever, rest of us prefer suspension that actually works and isn't a glorified pogo stick.
Plenty of alt-cycling hipsters are riding bikes with 1980s tech and spending thousands to do so, to 'own' people with modern bikes. Marketing is a hell of a drug.
Wow, not often you meet a prick in the mtb community. Are you also one of those who think the bike makes the rider? And now, are salty because you found out the truth? Or are you too scared to actually ride your bike because one dent and your high tech carbon fiber frame is scrap?

Is the reviewer here, also a prick because they only gave your fork a 3.5 star rating, because even in 2008 it was a middling product?

I mean mine is a used 2016 la Pierre that I got a good deal on 3 years ago and have been doing the maintenance on mostly myself.
There are plenty out there that change their gear like they change their underwear. But as Shawn says in the hit movie Fast and The Furious Tokyo Drift, “It’s not the ride, it’s the rider”.
