Mostly the title describes it. I'm curious after seeing a pokemon Minecraft server in a passover YouTube video my spouse was going between. Basically I am wondering if I can create a host on Mint somehow to host with the mods, put a split console join, and then allow us to join from Xbox or such hosted off our server.

Yep this can easily be done with Java Edition. The most simple approach for hosting would be something like e4mc in Singleplayer.

put a split console join, and then allow us to join from Xbox or such hosted off our server.

Likely impossible because Bugrock Edition is incompatible with Java mods.

Yeah, lutris won't use the official Minecraft launcher apparently, prism only uses Java. So essentially what I think I'd have to do is find a Windows computer launch the game with the add-on export the world, copy those files over to the bedrock server running on mint and then it would work... But I don't have a Windows machine I can use at the moment.

Well that's the hard way.

The easy way: Don't play bugrock in the first place lol

She's got an Xbox, so I was just trying to find couch co-ops that she'd like. Not big into Minecraft, but figured it could be something new

If I run prism for the Java version and hook it to the tv and Bluetooth controls do you know if you can reliably play couch coop like that?

One of the Java mods for controller support has a split screen mod/option too, but it's behind the author's patreon while it is in development still. No idea how well it works.

Alternatively you could host a PaperMC server with Geyser and floodgate, which would allow an XBOX player to join a java server. You do need to change some DNS settings on the XBOX I think.
