[meta] Suggestion: can we make it mandatory that every normal post here has to have the "ELI5" words in the title like in the original sub? (feddit.it)

I feel like that was a cool and unique enough mark for original subreddit to give it a different vibe than most other communities with similar intent.

It also helps standardizing the titling format just enough to make it less confusing and clearer when reading them. Now that there is a brand new modding team I feel like this could be a good thing to add here

I'm in favor. I don't really care whether we do things the same way as in Reddit but sometimes I start typing a reply to a thread without noticing which community it's in. Having ELI5 in the title makes it immediately clear what kind of responses are wanted.

That said, if the rule is implemented, I don't think it's necessary to start enforcing it strictly right away. It's not that big of a deal if someone forgets the rule. That way it wouldn't create any extra work for the mods.

In the mod system there probably is an easy way to make a constant, automated rule and allow post to be published only if certain criteria are met

Lemmy has bare minimum mod tools. They can view reports and take action on them, delete comments, delete or lock posts, and ban users from the com

It would probably be possible to enforce this with a bot (with moderator rights) that deletes all posts that don't match the rule, but I don't have the resources to operate something like that.
