How does this man still have a career, we've known he is a predator for so long. Like decades at least.

More importantly, he's box office poison.

Which really does lend credibility to the idea that he either has some Epstein-style blackmail on some influential people in Hollywood and/or he's still providing them with unsavory, or illegal, experiences.

He's rich. He produced tron so he got to say he was the lead in it. Rich people suck.

Yea something is up.

His performance, if you can even stand degrading other actors and actresses by using the term with his name attached to it, in Bladerunner 2049 was a look inside his brain. That was Jared in 2049, not some tech overlord he was pretending to be.

He’s got to be one of them that traffics or supplies women to the rest.

This is the genuinely such an agonizing flip side to it like if we are gonna employ a sex criminal at least get an actor who isnt total ass and ruins every movie he is in. Dude is allergic to emotion, wooden, and sucks to work with. It makes no sense. There are so many pervs in hollywood I know at least one of them has to be able to act better than this asshole

[–] tmyakal@infosec.pub 4 points 2 days ago

He peaked as Jordan Catalano in My So-Called Life, an intellectually stunted, emotionally empty symbol of naive adolescent desire. For some reason, he was really able to sink into that role.

[–] triptrapper@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

I think he's a repulsive person, but in my opinion he's been electric in several roles, like Requiem and Panic Room.

I feel like this is why we keep seeing him in movies despite the fact he's box office kryptonite.

He's somebody's favorite sex pest.

You're confused on why a sexual predator is still working in an industry famously run by sexual predators?

[–] lyralycan@sh.itjust.works 43 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And spearheaded in a country that famously keeps and defends sexual predators in positions of power?

[–] NoForwadSlashS@piefed.social 19 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the USA was a mistake

[–] lyralycan@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

Well, I'd hazard an alternative: I believe what the settlers did -- after the murderers cleared the American population out of their new home -- standing up and challenging the leadership, even, if necessary, forming a cohesive army of rebels to violently fight for rights they deemed at the time absolutely vital and worth such a barbaric and last-resort act as killing for, is something I appreciate. The mistake was her people letting the leadership bring the country down quicker than any grieving Middle-Eastern victim turned international activist.

Quote of the last twenty years of several countries: We Need Another Revolution.

[–] Aetherial@nord.pub 2 points 1 day ago

Ha! That's rich. Americans are too lazy and self entitled to have an actual revolution. Half would spiral into existential crisis if the lights went out, and the other half would be politicizing why the lights were on in the first place.

The /mistake/ appears to have been Jefferson/Madison not lining the God-botherers up against a wall and shooting them when they had a chance.

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 days ago

Like most predators. Everyone knows for decades and hardly anyone does anything about it. The ones who speak up are called sluts, liars, clout-seekers, attention whores, etc.

Usually they get excused if they're talented. This dude isn't even a great actor

[–] 1egg4u@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Pretty privilege, money, or both?

He is a fucking terrible actor so I refuse to believe it's talent

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

It’s our rape culture.

Ask Hollywood why they cover for perverts

Dude, we all a little perverted if we're honest. Don't throw us honest perverts under the bus with creeps like him

With him and Russell Brand looking so much alike, I can't help but feel that the look is a giveaway sign.
