Yes. But software engineers are engineers. Not all programmers are software engineers.

Not all software engineers are engineers and furthermore software isn't an engineering discipline to begin with.

That's why I take offense to the use of the phrase. Welcome to the discussion.

Everyone else uses a term in a certain way, maybe it's time to just update your connotation to the word and accept it. This isn't always what you should do when everyone else is doing something or other, of course, but I feel like in this case this isn't a hill worth dying on. Maybe you feel differently.

Not everyone. Appeal to bandwagon fallacy btw.

I already set a disclaimer in place there, to avoid the bandwagon fallacy, btw. 👍

You ignored what said about a hill to die on. Do you feel this is a hill you want to die on?

"Um actually I said no-fallacy first so it wasn't fallacious."

That's not what happened, lol. I guess you can't read.

Still ignoring my comment about dying on your hill. I accept your resignation.

Oh shit, today I learned that software can't be a complex system. That makes our jobs easier. I'll be sure to tell IEEE.

I didn't say it cannot simply that when it is it becomes computer engineering work, which software and programming inherently are not.
