Was Elvira, Mistress of the Dark the first "make fun of b-movies" TV show? I'm 53 and I remember watching her show and the hilariously awful horror films as a tweener.
She certainly wasn't the first horror hostess. Vampyra and Tarantula Ghoul have her beat out by about a decade. But the combination of camp and comedy she brought were definitely her own. The camp coming from the time she worked with drag queens. And the comedy she developed in the Groundlings with Paul Reubens.
Sven Ghoulie was around well before Elvira.
