I know this is a joke but I will be pendantic and say there is already a gender neutral word for fisherman, which is fishmonger.
It's sad, the few things one can monger.
War, fish, rumors, cheese, fear, and whores, not much else to be a mongerer-of :(
Fisherman - Fishmonger
Mailman - Mailmonger
Policeman - Policemonger
Fireman - Firemonger
I thought a fishmonger was someone who sells fish at market, not the person who catches them.
Is it pedantry if it isn't true though? Or am I being woooooshed?
