is the really the Chinese government doing that? doesn't every country have some sort of scammers running inside of it?
Its hard to imagine the foremost surveillance state just didn't notice it all that time. China isn't exactly an anarchy of roving gangs where billions of dollars move around unnoticed.
One thing we do know is that the Chinese government took action to stop it but that could just be that they were becoming arrogant, outliving their usefulness, or perhaps about to get caught and reveal ties to the state.
it just seems odd to me that the government tried to stop it and we're saying that they were secretly supporting it, but okay

to be clear, doesn't mean I'm overlooking all the other things they do, there's a lot of bad shit and I don't think China even sees a need for democracy to be clear ... I think that's self-evident.
