Hey ☺️

A few years ago I read a book where a group of friends kidnapped strangers to hunt them down. It was a yearly (?) event for them. They went to a cabin and released the victims into the woods. After a given time they started stalking them. It was set in the US. They basically pretended to be just old school friends having a traditonal reunion weekend in their cabin.

I could have sweared it was just called "Hunting Season." However, I do not find it under this name. Same goes for "Killing Season."

If I recall correctly, the book was released in the 70s, maybe the 80s.

Is anyone of you able to identify that book?

Thank you so much!

The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell is probably the “original” version of this story, but it’s been retold many times since it was published. “Surviving the Game” was a 90s movie with Gary Busey and Ice T based on it. Most recently, the movie “The Menu” was loosely based on the idea, too.

And "the hunt" with Betty gilpin in 2020. They did it well.

Thank you for your reply. But none of that relates to said book. Apart from the very common trope, yes.

Yes, and I feel like I watched an episode like that in at least 3 different TV shows. Usually crime stuff, but one Black Mirror episode is also somewhat similar.
