But ultimately it is Ukraine, not Russia, that is better placed to win the peace, even as it concedes some losses in the war

tf kind of doublespeak is "winning the peace". Is that the same thing as a Moral Victory? Just give these assholes a participation trophy and tell them to move on already.

I've only ever heard it as part of the phrase: "The Nazis lost the war but won the peace"
